GAINESVILLE, Fla. (February 12, 2015) – Playing its first true road games of the season on Thursday, NJCAA No. 9/FCSAA No. 3 Tallahassee Community College swept a doubleheader from Santa Fe College, winning by the scores of 2-1, in eight innings, and 4-0.

Game two was called after six innings due to darkness.

In the opener, Kiara Johnson’s eighth-inning single scored Danielle Patterson with what proved to be the winning run, and ace pitcher Mariah Rivera did her part in the bottom half to preserve the victory.

Rivera went the distance, allowing only two hits and striking out five.

Patterson scored both Tallahassee runs and was 2-for-4 at the plate.

In the nightcap, Gabrielle Decker allowed only three hits and struck out five over six innings of work to pick up the victory.

Patterson again led the Eagles offensively, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Taylor Scher was 1-for-2 and scored a run.

Tallahassee will take its 7-0 record to Marianna, Fla., for games Saturday and Sunday in the Florida Public Utilities (FPU) Classic hosted by Chipola College.
