TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  - Tallahassee Community College’s Trevor McDade has been named the NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the voting period of December 18-31.

McDade, a freshman from Bowie, Md., averaged 26.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.5 steals in two games at last weekend’s Comfort Inn Holiday Classic, where he powered the Eagles to victories over previously undefeated East Georgia State College and reigning NJCAA Region 17 champion Gordon (Ga.) State College.

Against East Georgia State on December 28, he scored a career-high 34 points on 11-of-14 shooting and also had three rebounds, two assists and five steals in Tallahassee’s 91-73 win. The next night, McDade scored all but two of his 18 points in the second half to help the Eagles rally past Gordon State, 83-71.

For the week, McDade shot 66.7 percent (18-of-27) from the floor, 50.0 percent (4-of-8) on three-pointers and 60.0 percent (12-of-20) from the free throw line.

The Eagles (12-4), winners of four straight, will open Panhandle Conference play on Saturday, January 5 at arch rival Chipola College. Tip-off is at 8:30 p.m. eastern.
