TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - When it comes to Junior College basketball, the Panhandle Conference is the best in the country. The reigning men's and women's Champion both hail from the conference, and on Saturday, the Tallahassee men fell to the defending champs.

On Tuesday night, the men looked to rebound against Gulf Coast, who they beat on the road two weeks ago. The visiting Commodores jumped out to the early lead, but entered halftime up by twelve, closing it out to get the 74-61 win. With the victory over the Commodores, Tallahassee improved to 4-1 in Panhandle Conference play.

The Tallahassee women were within three of the Gulf Coast women with less then a minute to go, but poor possession gave the game to Gulf Coast.

After the 64-61 loss, head coach Q Bedell noted that his team has to learn to fight harder.

"We're in the Panhandle now, and when teams dig and they match, you have to dig," he said. "When they match, you have to dig a little bit deeper and it doesn't boil down to X's and O's. It really boils down to who wants it more because we know each other in and out. The Conference is so good that you have to dig a little bit deeper."

Tallahassee returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Pensacola State.
