PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WTXL) - Four days after both the Tallahassee Community College came away with opening wins in Panhandle Conference Play, both the men's and women's basketball teams hit the road to Panama City to face Gulf Coast.

The Eagle women had the tough task of taking on the undefeated Commodores, who are ranked third in the country.

The Eagles trained just 43-36 at the halfway mark, but thanks to a 20-4 advantage in second chance points, Gulf Coast pulled away to get the 77-64 win.

The Tallahassee men took the floor in the nightcap, and thanks to a dominating second half performance, one where they outscored Gulf Coast 53-31, the Eagles won 95-81.

The win is their sixth straight, and for the first time since 2010, Tallahassee is 2-0 in Conference play. Lincoln high grad Jahvaughn Powell led the scoring for the Eagles with 21 points.

Both the Tallahassee men and women return to action on Saturday when they host Chipola. The women tip at 5:30, the men's game follows.
