TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - The need for speed comes in many forms, cars, motorcycles, for Tallahassee teenager Trinity Bond, it's speed skates. The queen of the rink is making her name known on a national level, as at just 15 years old, she has two Gold medals to her name.
"We were always competitive," she said of her start in the sport, one that came at a cousin's skate party. "One christmas we decided to get speed skates and just race see who we can beat."
Trinity made the team, and her parents were shocked and impressed with her new talent. Racing also boosted her confidence in other sports, like basketball and track.
"People say I have a really good start because I get off the line really fast," she said. "My basketball coach says that helps too. They call me speed skater when I go out there because they say I'm really fast with the ball."
Trinity said it's not just the skating or the trophies she enjoys about the sport, but the people she meets along the way.
"I know this one girl, we were racing, and she pushed me down," she remembered. "I was thinking, oh I don't like her, but then we just started talking and we just clicked from there."
Trinity said she wants to be a personal trainer one day, but for now, she's satisfied with propelling herself to another gold medal.
