TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Last spring, premiere adult soccer was promised in the Big Bend by the Tallahassee Soccer Club. One year later, that promise is almost reality, as the club is set to kick off their very first season this weekend. Under the lights of College Town in Tallahassee, the Club got in the first of their final few practices Tuesday night before kick off Saturday.
This team is hyper local, as nearly everyone on it played in the Big Bend or South Georgia. There is a lot of hometown pride on this team, and they're ready to bring top level soccer to the area.
"We're all bought in in terms of the fact we're representing our city," said Pete Love, who attended Chiles High School. "It makes us want to work extra hard and fight for our city."
"There's not been much like this around this area, and it's great," said assistant coach Tony Voyles, who also coaches at Thomas County Central. "It gives these young guys coming up in this community something to strive for and people to look up to. Hopefully it'll help soccer continue to grow in this area and get stronger and stronger. It's great."
Game one is this Saturday at the Florida State main campus fields next to College Town. Kick off is at five against the Savannah Clovers.
