TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - For their very first season, you couldn't have asked for much more from the Tallahassee Soccer Club. The Battle Lions are in first place in the Eastern Conference of the Gulf Coast Premiere League, and in prime position to make the postseason.
The top two teams from the three conferences in the GCPL make the postseason, and with a win this weekend, the guys would clinch at least a second place finish. Hattiesburg FC comes to Tallahassee for the home finale, and the Battle Lions are confident heading in, saying they'll plan to stick to what they do best, which is playing as a team.
"Where we play good team soccer, we're unselfish, we combine and move the ball well together and when we have our chances, we put them away," said Pete Love. "We just need to be clinical but for the fans, they want to see us play good soccer, we need to work hard and be confident."
"We play an offensive style, we want to score goals, we are physical, but the thing is we are a blue collar team," said Hugo Rodrigues. "We don't give up, we are going to play from the first minute to the end. So, just come and we're going to give you something to celebrate."
Saturday's home finale is set for a 7:00 kick.
