TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Just like last summer, three Tallahassee-Leon Babe Ruth Baseball teams won state and will play in Regional competition next week. A win at Regionals punches their tickets to the World Series.
The 14U's have a little bit of experience at winning State, as they did it as a team last year as 13's. At Regionals though, they fell short, and this year, they are looking to secure that trip to the Big Dance.
Head coach Bruce Williams notes this group is special, and to get it done this time around they just need to stay focused.
"We talked about it at the beginning," he said, noting that last year's loss has motivated them to this point. "We have about ten guys that we have returning from last year. They all felt the disappointment coming up short, so they realize the opportunity in front of them. As much as I want to get there, they want to get to a World Series as well."
"Just to play with these guys, they have very good energy," added Jayden Burns of the chemistry on this team. "We're a very good team, I think so, and I think we can do some good stuff with this team."
Regionals kicks off next week for the 14U team.
