TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - For the past two seasons, three Tallahassee-Leon Babe Ruth baseball teams have made it to Regionals, with one team winning their Region to advance to the World Series.
This year, the 13-year-old group will represent the Big Bend, and this year, they want to bring it home.
The team left for Arkansas, site of the World Series, Tuesday morning, and they're looking to win the organization's first World Series crown since 2009.
"We are very excited actually," said third baseman Kody Ashley. "We're going to have a really fun time on the bus, and it's going to be a fun week. This is definitely a once in a lifetime thing and I'm really excited to go. It's going to be really fun."
"The tradition is so deep in Tallahassee with Babe Ruth baseball," said head coach Mike Harrison, who led the 15-year-old group to a 3rd place finish at the World Series last summer. "We've had tremendous amount of people reach out to us offering advice and help and support. It's really cool to represent your community, Tallahassee, and the state of Florida."
The 13's begin World Series play on Thursday.
