TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - For the first time in the modern Babe Ruth era, three Tallahassee-Leon Babe Ruth baseball teams won State Championships. All three took part in Regional play, where one of those teams, the 15U group, went undefeated to advance to the World Series.
Not only did they go undefeated, they outscored their opponents 52-6. That dominance is no surprise to head coach Mike Harrison, who noted these kids have put in a lot of work to get to this point.
"These young men have worked hard for multiple years and to be rewarded with this at the end of their Babe Ruth career is really exciting for them," he said. "It's starting to creep in their mind now that we could bring a big trophy home."
All that's left between the team and a World Series Championship is six wins, and they couldn't be more excited.
"This is the first World Series I've ever been too with an All-Star team," said Tyler Sims. "We never got to make it when I was at Myers or Levy. This is also my last year of playing All-Stars, 15 year olds, we won't be able to do it again. To get to do it with my best friends is pretty cool."
The World Series starts August 10th in Williston, North Dakota. For more information on how you can sponsor the team, click here.
