TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - It was quite the summer for Tallahassee-Leon Babe Ruth baseball. The organization had three teams win State Championships, and even bigger, one of those squads advanced out of Regionals to play for a World Series title.
The 15U Babe Ruth World Series is in Williston, North Dakota, and on Thursday morning, the team loaded up a bus for the first leg of their long journey north.
The guys make up one of just ten teams left across the country competing, and with six wins, they'll be 2016 Babe Ruth World Series Champions.
"They're very proud," said head coach Mike Harrison. "They understand how important it is to represent the state of Florida. Our motto this tournament is just to go finish things."
"It feels like a dream right now. It all happened so fast," said Victor Castillo, who plays middle infield and outfield for the team. "We're just having fun, enjoying it. Enjoying this, enjoying the bus right and enjoying every minute. It's going to be a challenge mentally and physically, but I think we're ready and I think everybody is prepared for that."
The team kicks off World Series play on Saturday. For a full schedule, click here.
