TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee-Leon 13's Babe Ruth baseball team is headed to Virginia for Regionals, if they win, they're headed to the World Series next month. For this team, it's one step at a time though, and they are laser focused.
Head coach Mike Harrison says they're ready. Pitching has been lights out and the bats have been hot, now it's just about continuing that and working their way all the way to the top.
"They have a chance to be special," said Harrison. "They love to play the game, have really good leaders, which is odd for a 13 year old team. Have really vocal leaders. If we can throw strikes and play defense, we should be okay."
"We've worked super hard," added Garrett Harper. "We've been out here three or four times a week, maybe more, just taking cuts, taking infield, batting practice in the cages. If we keep working hard we'll make it all the way we just have to put in the effort."
The 13's start Regional play on July 23rd in Virginia.
