TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Basketball season is just around the corner, and both the men's and women's basketball teams at Tallahassee Community College are ranked in the top ten in the state, and both open up their seasons this weekend on the road.
Before the teams hit the road, they had a little bit of fun on their home floor on Wednesday for "Midday Madness." The ladies return just one sophomore with experience, while the guys boast a new head coach.
All fun aside, the season gets serious Friday, but both coaches agree Wednesday is a great way to get things started.
"Hopefully it generates some fan base and then gives something for our kids to appreciate and knowing that this is more than just basketball," said women's head coach Q Bedell. "At the end of the day, you got a lot of people watching you and rooting you on. It's a community event."
"Days like this are really for the guys to just get out and have some fun, enjoy themselves," agreed men's head coach Mark White. "Students get to see them, just more of a relaxing day. I always enjoy doing these kinds of things."
The men play at home for the first time Thursday, November 5th against Hillsborough Community College, while the women take the floor Tuesday the 3rd against Daytona State.
