TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - It was a busy night in the pool Wednesday for four Tallahassee high school swim teams, as Leon, Florida High, Godby, and Community Christian all kicked off the season.

The Leon Lions boast the most success of the four, with several kids posting good finishes as state last year, and some of the returners are excited to see what they can accomplish this season.

"We have a really new team this year because a bunch of our swimmers graduated last year so there's a bunch of new freshmen coming in," said junior captain Olivia Kercheval-Roig, who placed sixth at State in the 200 IM her sophomore season. "It's going to be super exciting to see what they can do and how well we place this year."

"We have a really good young team," said Lions head coach Terrence Maguire. "There's a lot of freshmen and sophomores coming on, showing what they got. We're going to be building for the next three years on our team. I definitely see us going on to Districts and Regionals."

Florida High won Wednesday's meet on the women's side, while Leon took the boys title.
