TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - For 12-year old Jordan Green, diving just came naturally.
Despite five years of gymnastics, and a national championship, Jordan was ready for something new.
"I think he got kind of burnt out, with the schedule, so he kind of decided to walk away," said dad Terrill Green. "As a parent, I was trying to find something, another activity he could do to incorporate those gymnastics skills. I came across this diving program, Tomahawk Diving, and he did a trial week, and what four months later, here we are going to Nationals."
"Gymnastics, I just learned flips and stuff, so I wanted to do diving and gymnastics," remembered Jordan. "After I did gymnastics, I went to soccer, and soccer didn't go so well, so my parents signed me up for diving classes and here I am."
A decision which has paid off. After just four months in the pool and a fourth place finish at Regionals, the Tallahassee native is headed to west to compete for top honors.
"At Nationals, you have the best of the best, the creme of the crop," said Terrill. "As a parent, seeing your kid in that type of environment, let's me know and let's him know that you're one of the best as well."
The talent is easy to see, but it's the work ethic that makes Jordan so special.
"He does everything that I ask, a coaches dream," said Tomahawk Diving coach John Lynch. "I mean he is respectful, yes sir, no sir. It's just he was raised right, and that's what I like the best."
"Even when he's not at practice, he's home doing skill work," said Terrill. "He puts in extra work, to be great, not just good, but great."
"I've been working really hard, and I just wanted to complete the dives and do my best," added Jordan.
"For me he's already reached that level of greatness, I just want him to have fun, do what he does and then the rest should take care of itself," said Terrill.
A seamless transition, now chasing a dream.
