TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Community College women's basketball team knows a thing or two about a tough schedule- they have the second toughest in the country.
The Eagles have handled things just find though. They're 9-3 on the season and are on a six game win streak, and they found out on Wednesday that they are ranked 25th in the latest NJCAA National Poll.
Head Coach Q Bedell said he is honored with the recognition, but notes the main goal right now is to get more consistent in their play. He admits with just two sophomores, he couldn't be more pleased with where the team is, but said with Conference play on the horizon, they still have a long way to go.
"I tell them it's not how we start the race, it's how we finish," he said Wednesday. "I'm excited for them, but at the same time, I know what's coming. That Panhandle grind is literally a grind. We're excited about it, but I've not really even talked about it. We've just gone about our day and tried to be consistent. I keep telling them, a practice at a time, a day at a time, and a game at a time. Hopefully we can keep that going and keep the streak going."
The ladies take the court Saturday in Marianna at the Chipola College Classic, where they will face Fort Benning Military Academy. Tip-off is at 3:00.
