TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Community College softball team is postseason bound for the tenth time in the last thirteen seasons. The Eagles kick off play in the 16 team, double elimination State Tournament on Friday when they take on Indian River.
Tallahassee finished fourth in the tough Panhandle Conference this season, edging out Pensacola for the final berth to State, and head coach Patti Townsend said their tough schedule only prepares them for what's ahead.
"It definitely helps us for the State tournament, and like we say in Florida, it may make us seem a little arrogant, but if you make it through the State tournament in Florida, Nationals seems to be a little bit on the lighter side," she said at practice on Monday. "Our Conference is one of the toughest up and down in the state, so it helps you. It helps you prepare, and it helps you go in and focus and every game is a big game."
Friday's game against Indian River is slated for 1:30 in Vero Beach.
