TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Basketball is right around the corner, and for the Tallahassee Community College men's basketball team, there is a lot of excitement in the air. The Eagles boast a new head coach, and in a few weeks, they'll take the court on their home turf and see what they're all about.

The men host the Southeastern Jamboree on Saturday October 3rd, an 18 team showcase event featuring some of the best teams in the state of Florida, and where some of the top Division I coaches in the country will come watch.

The Eagles are also under the leadership of new head coach Mark White, who comes from East Mississippi Community College. The Eagle men finished fourth in the Panhandle Conference standings last season, a conference known nationally as the best when it comes to basketball, and White and the team are ready to hit the court.

"I couldn't be more pleased with the kind of kids that my staff and I have recruited in here to TCC, we have a great bunch of kids," said White during practice Monday. "We pride ourselves on toughness and being very aggressive on both sides of the ball. I think people will really enjoy watching us play and watching our kids play and we're looking forward to geting started."

The Eagle women will host the same jamboree on October 4th. Both days are open to the public.
