TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Gene Cox Stadium. Bragg Memorial Stadium. Both are getting upgrades this summer, and don't leave Tallahassee Community College out of the mix. The Eagledome got some much needed TLC as well.
Construction began on the Lifetime Sports Complex at TCC in the early 1980's. The complex is known for it's domed roof, and at the time of it's construction, that dome was an architectural innovation for Tallahassee.
Not much has been done since it's opening in 1984 until this summer, when the roof was peeled back layer by layer and replaced.
It was a much needed upgrade, and something the Eagles are thankful for.
"Obviously we planned strategically to do this work during the summer so that it didn't disrupt the season and we had one floor available all summer so we've been back and forth," said athletic director Rob Chaney. "Now that the teams are here for that last summer session, we've been able to get back to the main floor. It's all timed out well and it'll be ready to go for the fall semester."
