TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Both the Tallahassee men's and women's basketball programs are riding the high of national recognition.
The Eagle men, who are undefeated, are ranked sixth in the country while the ladies are not too far behind in the eleven spot in the women's poll.
It's a big accomplishment, and both admit the success of each other's program is motivation to get better.
"Winning begets winning so you don't want to be the only loser on the bus, you want to be a winner," said women's head coach Q Bedell. "When you get on that bus after a loss and they've won, it kind of feels bad, and then it feels bad when you won and they lost. If we both can keep winning, that's going to be great."
"It's great for the college when you can get recognized nationally," agreed men's coach Mark White. "It helps your college tremendously when you have your men's and your women's program's ranked nationally and everybody sees the name Tallahassee."
The Tallahassee men return to action this weekend when they travel to Ocala for the Florida College's Men's Basketball Shootout. The ladies hit the floor Saturday at St. Pete.
