TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Community College men's basketball team is playing for a State Championship this week, and they're looking to win their first since 2006.

The Tallahassee men fell short of their first Conference title since 2006 last week, when they lost to Northwest Florida State. The Eagles take on Eastern Florida State Wednesday night, and a win puts them in Friday's Semifinal game.

The Eagles went 4-8 in Conference play last season, and the guys admit, it's nice to be in the position they're in.

"Our guys understand three words in this program, culture of accountability," said head coach Mark White. "They've done a tremendous job of buying in to that culture. I'm super excited for them."

"With this team we got this year, the brotherhood that we've formed over it's about thirty games now, we feel like we're very confident," added sophomore Jahvaughn Powell. "We're very excited. I know we'll be prepared, I know we'll be ready to play, excited, we just have to make sure we bring it all into one."

Wednesday's State Quarterfinal game tips at 6:00 at College of Central Florida in Ocala.
