TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Football is over, tournament time is almost here for hoops, all that's left are spring sports. On Friday, day one of practice kicks off for Florida State and Florida A&M, but on Friday, day one of the regular season gets underway for Tallahassee Community College.

This year, head coach Mike McLeod has six guys, including pitchers returning from last year's club, so this Eagle squad is young. Positions he said he's confident about? Middle infield and catcher, and noted the corners and the outfield need work.

"They don't know how to play, and they think they do," he laughed when talking about this team's youth. "We make a lot of mistakes. We have to learn to throw the ball where it's supposed to be thrown from the outfield. We have to run the bases correctly and not make stupid mistakes on the bases, and we have to throw strikes. So far we have to get in touch with the strike zone and make sure we stay ahead of hitters or it's going to be a tough year."

The Eagles host Pasco-Hernando in a three game set this weekend. First pitch is Friday at 4:00.
