TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - After opening up Panhandle Conference play 3-5, the Tallahassee Community College baseball team are winners of eight of their last ten.

It certainly helps when pitching is on point. The Eagle staff leads the country in strikeouts, recording 458 so far on the year.

A win Friday over Pensacola would clinch a berth in this year's State Tournament and head coach Mike McLeod says this group really is peaking at the right time.

"We're pitching and playing great defense. If we could get our bats going a little bit hotter, we'd be a lot less nerve-wracking I promise you," he laughed. "Pitching is off the charts. We just have to keep that going and keep playing good defense and score when the opportunity allows it to happen and hopefully we can drive in a few more runs. I'd really love to see our bats get hot."

Friday's game against the Pirates is set for a 5:00 first pitch in Tallahassee.
