TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 27, 2017) – Brooks Buckler pitched five shutout innings and Chris Clark went 3-for-4, leading Tallahassee Community College to a 7-2 win over Pasco-Hernando State College in Friday’s season opener for both teams.

Buckler (1-0) didn’t allow a hit and faced only two batters over the minimum in five innings of work before handing things over to relievers Hunter Shuff and Christian Dearman.

Tallahassee gave Buckler all the run support needed with a four-run third.

Clark led off the inning with a triple but it wasn’t until two were out that he scored on a wild pitch by Pasco-Hernando State starting pitcher Tyler Beck. A two-out single by Tucker Rayburn plated Deyvild Silva, and Jack Hartman’s base hit plated two more runs to push the Eagles’ lead to 4-0.

An RBI-single from Clark in the fifth put Tallahassee in front 5-0.

The Conquistadors broke up the shutout bid in the sixth and added another run an inning later on Jose Oliva’s solo homer.

Tallahassee got the runs back and put the game away in the eighth.

Clark doubled to lead off the inning and later scored when Bret Maxwell reached base on an error. Silva drove in Maxwell for the final run of the game, courtesy of a fly out to left.

Clark finished a home run shy of hitting for the cycle, and Rayburn was 2-for-5.

Tallahassee and Pasco-Hernando State will return to the diamond on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
