MONTICELLO, Fla. (WTXL) - With nine strikeouts against Countryside Christian, Abgail Morgan helped carry the Lady Warriors into the state semifinals. However, she isn't just battling opposing lineups. The sophomore lefthander is also fighting against fatigue.
Morgan has pitched every inning of every game for Aucilla Christian since March 8th. That's 15 straight games with no relief. That happened because star starting pitcher Elizabeth Hightower was injured for the season, leaving Morgan as the only experienced pitcher left on staff.
"That's really my motivated me the rest of the season. Even if I get into trouble I have to stick to it and stick with it and know that my teammates have my back," Morgan said. "My mindset is I have to win every batter I have to win every batter I just have to win every pitch. I just have to win it."
Morgan says she plans to take a week off after the season, but she plans to be right back pitching travel ball a week later. Pitching this much has made her a better pitcher. She is committed to Florida Atlantic University.
