CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. (WTXL) - Last season was one for the books for the War Eagle football team at Wakulla High School. The team went 13-2, and fell just short of a Class 5A State Championship.
Off that squad, the Eagles must replace several stand-out players, including quarterback Feleipe Franks, who enrolled early at Florida, receiver and Florida State signee Keith Gavin, and several other athletes on both sides of the ball.
Head coach Scott Klees said guys like Damarcus Lindsey and Brandon Berry, all who played last season, now have a bigger stage to shine, and they're ready.
"All those guys are seniors now, and they contributed last year quite a bit, and we plan on them being a big part of the focus of our team," said Klees. "These guys have really practiced hard. It's their chance to step up. They've been waiting for that chance to play. We'll get to see them against Godby and Rickards in a couple weeks."
Godby, Rickards, and Wakulla will take part in a three team jamboree on Friday, May 20th at 6:30 at Gene Cox Stadium in Tallahassee.
