TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Four of the five public high school in Leon County have a new head football coach as spring practice gets underway. That means four fresh faces will line the sidelines this fall, and a Lincoln High School Quinn Gray is that fresh face.
Coach Gray took over the reigns of the Trojans program after Yusuf Shakir resigned late last month. Tuesday was just day two of spring ball for the Trojans, but so far, Gray said he likes what he's seen.
"Lot of times they try to see what they can do and can't do and things like that. They're finding out quickly so, it's that courting period right now," he said. "We're having a good time, the kids seem to be enjoying it. We're going to continue to get what we can out of them."
Gray added they'll put in basic offense and defense this week, and he said he's ready to get the guys in pads on Saturday and see what they can do.
"I think the kids are excited about something new and a new direction," he said of the kids efforts. "It's been showing in the way they've been doing the drills and giving the coaches their attention and paying attention to detail. That's the big thing."
Gray and the Trojans wrap up spring practice on Thursday, May 18th when they host Madison County for their spring game.
