Spring Practice Preview: Chiles Timberwolves
Posted

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - High school football in the state of the Florida kicked off Monday, as teams were allowed to take the field for the first official day of spring practice.

There's no contact until Saturday, but the Chiles Timberwolves got after it on Monday, and for good reason. There's a lot of excitement in the air surrounding the program. They finished last season 6-5, making the postseason for the first time in school history.

A lot of the team is back. Head coach Garrett Jahn said he has nine returning starters on defense, and while offensively they have a new quarterback and five new lineman, receiver Kris Reed and running back Shane Sanders are back. Jahn reiterated though that they still have a lot of work to do.

"Right now, we might have more athletes and more players then we had last year, but we're not a unit yet, that family, that tight knit group you need that has one common goal," he said. "That's what spring is for and the summer is to become that unit and hopefully we'll get that done by August."

The Timberwolves will see where they stack up on May 19th, while Chiles hosts Florida High for their spring game. Kick-off is at 7:00.
