MOULTRIE, Ga. (WTXL) - Bragging rights are a beautiful thing, and when you're fighting for bragging rights for your entire state, it's a huge deal.
That's what War of the Border is. For three weeks, a team from Florida and a team from Georgia go at it to defend their state.
Week one features a match-up with the Big Bend and South Georgia. Pelham head coach Dondrial Pinkins will coach the Georgia team come Friday, and said this game is a huge deal for those involved, and with the talent his team boasts, he is confident they'll get to claim those bragging rights.
"The good thing is you come out with this type of talent, you come out and tell some of these guys to do things once and they can get it done," he said on Tuesday. "Basically, it's going to come down to time with the quarterbacks and receivers, the running backs starting to learn, the offensive line, and the defense just gelling and getting to the ball and creating some turnovers. Basically, we'll try to win the game in special teams."
Pinkins' squad battles the Big Bend on Friday at 6:30 at Mack Tharpe Stadium in Moultrie, Georgia.
