TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – The 2013 NCAA Men’s Tennis Doubles Championships begin on Thursday, May 23 with Florida State’s Dominic Cotrone and Blake Davis competing in the first round. The duo’s match begins in the afternoon.
“We have had a good week of practice and look forward to playing the NCAA doubles Thursday,” said head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “Blake and Dominic have had an outstanding year and have really come on at the end of the year with some solid wins. They have good chemistry and complement each other’s skills.”
Davis, a junior, and sophomore Cotrone started playing with each other this spring and have reached No. 14 in the nation. The duo has a 14-3 record along with a 6-1 standing against ranked opponents. They finished the season with a 9-2 record including wins over the No. 1, 10, 14, 22, 26 and 81 ranked teams in the nation.
Cotrone and Davis take on No. 15 Garrett Brasseaux and Nathan Pasha of Georgia on Thursday and if they win take on the advancing team of No. 2 Henrique Cunha and Raphael Hemmeler of Duke and Ohio State’s No. 12 Connor Smith and Peter Kobelt.
