TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The 2014 NCAA Tournament began with a win for No. 8 Florida State, as the Noles knocked off Fordham 6-1 in their first game in the Tallahassee Regional.

"A good game for us to get under our belt," said head coach Lonni Alameda. "We knew that Fordham was going to come out and swing the bats a bit and Lacey did a great job of keeping them off balance and attacking the plate. It was a good team win. We got a lot of offense and played some great defense behind Lacey. Good day today and we are excited to get on to tomorrow."

Tiffani Brown led a balanced FSU attack from the plate, going 3-for-4 and scoring one run. In total five players recorded an RBI in the game and seven batters notched a hit. Lacey Waldrop and Jessica Burroughs teamed up to allow just three hits to Fordham.

The Seminoles will take on USF at 12:00 p.m. Saturday in the winners bracket of the Tallahassee Regional, while Fordham will face South Carolina after that game is finished.
