TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida State tennis incoming freshman Gabby Castaneda advanced to the semifinals of the women's singles draw at this weekend's US Open National Playoffs Qualifier.

Two more Noles also competed in the event, as redshirt freshman Emily Fanning made the quarterfinals and junior transfer Yukako Noi lost in the round of 16.

"It was great to see some of our team members compete on campus this weekend," said head coach Jennifer Hyde. "It was also exciting to have Emily back on court competing as well after missing the entire spring season with an injury that has finally cleared up.

"Having a chance to see both of our newcomers Gabby and Yukako on court as well gets our staff very excited as we look ahead to next year. We will be hosting the ITA Summer Circuit event starting on July 6 and the girls will have another chance to compete."
