TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Second-ranked Florida State (2-0-0) heads to unchartered territory this weekend as the Seminoles travel to the state of Oklahoma for the first time in school history. FSU will face Oklahoma State (0-2-0) on Friday night before wrapping up its first road trip of the season on Sunday in Norman against Oklahoma (1-0-1).

The Seminoles are coming off a pair of home victories to open the 2014 season defeating No. 11 Portland, 1-0, and Minnesota, 4-1. Oklahoma defeated Oklahoma State 2-0 in Norman in the season opener for both teams. The Cowgirls then dropped a 2-1 decision to Arkansas, while the Sooners played to a 1-1 draw against Utah.

Florida State is familiar with both Oklahoma State and Oklahoma as both schools visited Tallahassee a season ago. The Seminoles and Cowgirls played to a 1-1 draw but it was a late second half goal by Jamia Fields that spoiled OSU’s upset bid. In what looked like an end to FSU’s school record home win streak, Fields saved the night scoring the equalizer with 69 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at one to force overtime. The Seminoles outshot the Cowgirls 31-7 as OSU recorded eight saves on the night including six from keeper Rosa Medina.

Against Oklahoma, Dagny Brynjarsdottir scored the lone goal of the match breaking a scoreless tie in the 76th minute as the Seminoles defeated the Sooners 1-0. Florida State finished the match with a 16-4 advantage in shots as eight of the Seminoles’ shots went on goal.

Both games last year marked the first time the Seminoles had played either school.

Florida State remained at No. 2 in all three national polls after its 2-0-0 start and has now been ranked in the top 25 of the NSCAA poll for 120 consecutive weeks.

Senior defender Kristin Grubka was honored on TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Team of the Week after helping the Seminoles to the shutout victory over No. 11 Portland while contributing offensively with a goal and an assist against Minnesota.
