TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Godby senior Essence Nobles has played basketball all four years of her high school career, but in her final season, she's starting to see the minutes she's wanted too.

"In one years time, she's become a huge factor for us," said Cougar head coach Chelsea Johnson.

She's a huge factor that trusted the process that got her here, and Nobles is just happy to be playing the game.

"Really I wanted to set an example for the people that are under us and that want to come up," she said of why she stuck with it. "I want to work hard as a senior because after senior year, it's not guaranteed that you might play again."

"A lot of students, when you say wait you're turn type of thing and they want to play and they're sitting the bench, just watching her now, everything comes to her own," added Johnson. "We always talk about faith without work is dead and she's put in the work."

Work on the court, and work in the classroom, as Nobles has a 4.16 GPA.

"That's included with dual enrollment, credits and classes doing well on both, an amazing art student," said Johnson. "I'm just so proud of her. It seems like everything continues to go her way."

"It is really hard, but being raised by the mother I have, hard is not something that should stop you from succeeding in whatever it is," added Nobles.

It's a never quit mentality that's led her to find the success she's wanted, and she is making the most of it, every game.

"That's what keeping pushing me to keep wanting to do this and work hard in practice, because I'm already here," added Nobles.

Here, and deservingly so.
