TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Lincoln senior soccer stand-out Chase Merrick has always had a plan. Beat Leon. Play soccer in college. Join the Coast Guard. Check, check, and check.
"Since I was in fourth grade! I'm so excited, I finally get to go there," she said of attending her dream school.
It's excitement for the future that starts with the season the Trojans are having right now, as Merrick is hoping her last year is her best year yet.
"I just try and bring everyone together and make sure the positivity is good on the team," she said. "If everyone works together, we can do a lot.
"She always has a smile on her face, happy to be out here, but at the same time, she's a competitor," said head coach Jono Williams. "She knows when to turn it on and she gets the girl fired up and ready to play."
That competitive fire spreads to the classroom. Merrick has a 4.6 GPA and is ranked seventh in her senior class.
"Even if she came to me for help, I probably couldn't even help her!" laughed Williams. "She definitely leads by example. If a younger teammate needs help, she's not afraid to go over and help them out."
"I feel really good about it," said Merrick of her accomplishments. "Not many people can balance everything so I'm proud."
She is roud of what she's done so far, and proud of where she's going.
"I've accomplished everything I wanted to," she said. "I'm going to my dream school. I'm going to get my dream job, I have the best friends, the best family, there's nothing more I could really ask for."
It's what she's been asking for since the 4th grade.
