Savannah State holds on to down Florida A&M 67-65

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Preston Blackman had a game-high 20 points and Rashad Hassan added a double-double, 13 points and 11 rebounds, as Savannah State withstood a second-half rally to beat Florida A&M 67-65 Thursday night.

Savannah State (14-10, 8-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) won its fifth straight road game and Coach Horace Broadnax picked up his 100th career victory as the Tigers' head coach.

Down 52-34 with 13:30 remaining, Florida A&M (6-19, 3-8) went on a 28-13 run and cut its deficit to 65-62 on Reggie Lewis' jumper with 19 seconds remaining.

After Hassan's free throw pushed the Tigers' lead to 66-62 with 17 seconds left, Muhammad Abdul-Aleem converted from behind the arc for the Rattlers to make it 66-65 with 12 seconds remaining.

After Khiry White's free throw with 5 seconds left made it 67-65, Florida A&M missed its final desperation shot.
