TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - When it comes to winning District Championships, the Rickards girls basketball team knows how to get it done. They're winners of eight straight, and on Friday, they looked to win their ninth in a row with a win over Godby.
The ladies jumped out to a 39-15 halftime lead, and cruised from there, winning the Class 6A District Two title 69-36.
"I think the standard is pretty high. We're expected to try and compete for it and win for it every year," said head coach Chariya Davis. "We've been fortunate enough to have the teams to do that. To win it nine years it a row, it's unbelievable, but I knew we could do it."
The Lady Raiders will host Bay next week for the first round of Regionals. Godby will travel to Mosley.
In Class 3A, FAMU DRS beat Rocky Bayou to seal up their spot in Saturday's District One Championship game. They will face North Florida Christian, who handled St. John Paul II.
