TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - High school football teams in the state of Florida kick off fall camp on July 31st. The Rickards Raiders are coming off their best season in school history, as they made an appearance in the Class 5A Regional Finals.

Head coach Quintin Lewis said the Raiders come in with a plan every summer, and around 100 kids have been showing up every day since May, working hard as they aim for new heights.

"To us, our summer program is probably the most important part," he said.

"We do all our install and all our lifting and running at this time, that way when the season comes, we can practice football, not teach football. It's been a great summer for us right now. It's not just running and lifting, it's teaching and learning about the game of football. We do a lot of character building just so we can be a better football team later on."

Rickards takes on Miami Northwestern on August 19th as part of the inaugural Johnathan Ferrell Classic. They open the regular season at North Marion on August 25th.
