Saturday marked the final day of the Jonathan Ferrell Kickoff Classic, with two of the area's best doing battle with two teams from out of town.

Godby opened the afternoon with a big 43-13 win over Nature Coast. 

Rasean McKay finished with three touchdown passes and the Cougars get the first victory under new head coach Corey Fuller.

In the nightcap, Rickards played host to the Bulls from Miami Northwestern. The four-time state champions were in control all night, led 19-7 after one and 26-14 at the half.

In the second half the Bulls pulled away. 27 unanswered points as they beat the Raiders 53-14 in front of a sold out crowd inside Gene Cox Stadium.

Out in Atlanta, the Packers from Colquitt County once again opened their season in the Corky Kell Classic.

The Packers walked away with a 20-17 win thanks to a late touchdown run from Ty Leggett.
