TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Nov. 20) - The FAMU Men's Basketball team (1-4) took a respite from a rugged early season road schedule for a Monday night bout against old rival Albany (Ga.) State, riding a second half surge to a 77-59 win in the Al Lawson Center.

Sophomore guard Nasir Core of Tampa, celebrated his birthday with a team-high 14 for FAMU, highlighted by a pair of three-pointers. Senior Marcus Barham added 12 points and four assists for the Rattlers, which had all 11 players in uniform score Monday night.

Jared Harrington and Antoine Gresham scored 10 points each to lead Albany State (0-5).

The game was close through the first 20 minutes, as Albany came in determined to play the Rattlers tough. FAMU was also without leading scorer Desmond Williams, who was sidelined for the first half for a rules violation. He finished with eight points.

FAMU led, 36-30 at the break, but went on a 23-8 run in the first nine and half minutes of the second half, building a 59-38 lead with 11:24 left, ending any hopes for the visiting Rams.

WHAT'S NEXT: The Rattlers return to the road for a long five-game stretch starting Wednesday at North Dakota State (8:00 p.m. Eastern Time).
