TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State’s Cal Raleigh added his fourth honor of the postseason when he was named as a First Team Freshman All-American by Perfect Game on Tuesday.
Raleigh ended his first season at Florida State ranked among the top five of ten major categories including home runs (10-2nd), RBI (50-3rd), doubles (16-t-3rd), walks (42-3rd), runs (45-4th), hits (69-4th), total bases (117-4th), batting average (.301-5th), slugging percentage (.511-5th), on-base percentage (.412-5th).
A switch hitting catcher, Raleigh had multiple RBI in 13 contests, including a season-high four in Florida State’s 10-2 victory over Pittsburgh on March 19. He finished 2-for-3 from the plate against the Panthers and scored two runs in the process.
Starting in 62 of the Seminoles’ 63 contests, Raleigh finished with at least two hits in 20 of those contests, placing him among the top four hitters in the lineup. The Cullowhee, NC, native established his season-high in hits (three) against Georgia Tech (March 11) and tied the mark on two occasions against both Louisville (April 8) and NC State (May 25).
