VALDOSTA, Ga. - Heavy rain on Friday that spilled over into a constant down pour on Saturday has caused the cancellation of Saturday's Valdosta State baseball and softball games against Lee.
Nearly three inches of rain fell in Valdosta on Friday while the rain continued into Saturday morning, making Billy Grant Field and Steel's Diamond at Blazer Park unplayable for Saturday afternoon's scheduled doubleheaders. The games will not be made up.
Saturday's games were the last scheduled regular season games of the season for the Blazer softball game and, barring new games being scheduled, the softball squad will not return to action until it begins play in the Gulf South Conference Tournament in Cullman, Ala. on May 1. Meanwhile, the VSU baseball team will travel to Columbus, Ga. to face No. 12 Columbus State on Wednesday April 23 for a 5:00 p.m. first pitch.
