LAKELAND, Fl. (WTXL) - The FAMU DRS girls basketball team has been one of the most dominant girls basketball teams in the State over the last decade and a half. They have six State titles since 2004, including the last three.

FAMU DRS took on Orlando Christian Prep in the Class 3A State Semifinals on Monday, but fell 49-38, ending their shot at a four-peat.

"When you're a competitor you want to win almost everything you do," said head coach Ericka Cromartie after the loss. "I don't care if you're shooting marbles, you want to beat the person when you're doing that. When you come up short, sure you want to have four of them on your resume, but to have three? I can't even be more proud of that. I thank God for the success we've had thus far, and hopefully he'll continue to bless us."

Both Aucilla Christian and Lafayette fell on Monday as well. Lincoln plays in the 8A State Semifinals on Friday.
