TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - From baseball State Tournaments to softball, there is a lot of ball going on in the Big Bend this weekend. Over 1300 softball players will hit Messer Park for the third annual Jacksonville Storm Summer Showcase.

Who are they trying to impress? The over 80 college coaches that are expected to attend over the next couple of days.

It's a great way for the girls to get noticed, and getting them to the next level is what this weekend is all about.

"We have Division I, Division II, Division III and NAIA coaches here and we hope to find a home for a number of them," said Addison Davis, President of the Jacksonville Storm organization. "Last year, we had over 200 athletes that were able to identify a college in which they fell in love with and be able to get a scholarship. We're hoping to be able to match that number and grow that number for 2018 Showcase."

The Storm, obviously based out of Jacksonville, so why travel two and a half hours to the West for a Showcase?

"Tallahassee's good for us!" laughed Davis. "You know, one of the biggest things is they have a number of fields. We have 13 fields we have availability for and it's a good place people from out of state can fly in, fly out and just have access to. We're proud to have a relationship with Tallahassee and we continue to have a long term relationship."

The Showcase wraps up on Sunday.
