TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Florida State announced on Monday that 2019 will be head coach Mike Martin's final in Garnet and Gold. The Class of 2018 is a good one for Eleven, and last week, the Class of 2019 picked up a good one in North Florida Christian's JD Tease.
Tease was also named the Class 3A Player of the Year by the Florida Dairy Farmers last week while batting .505 and helping to lead the Eagles to a 3A State Runner-up finish this season.
So a busy week, and Tease said he is excited to don Garnet and Gold in a couple of years.
"Growing up here in Tallahassee, it's every kids dream to play at Florida State," he said Monday. "It's almost no question. In my mind, it's something I've prayed about since I was a freshman in high school. It's been my dream school. I think I can speak for any other kids who grows up in Tallahassee. Florida State would be their number one pick. It was definitely easy for me to make my decision. It was such a great blessing."
Tease admitting it's been a crazy week, but he's had the support of his teammates, friends and family. With all his accomplishments though, he added he's no satisfied just yet.
"Baseball's such a game where you're so far from perfection that there's always something else to work on," he said. "There's always numbers to get up. Obviously, having a batting average over 500 is cool, but you still can strive for better. More home runs, better defensively, being a better teammate, picking up other guys, there's always more stuff to work on."
