Early in her junior season, North Florida Christian's Caylan Jones made history - hitting 1000 points, in her career.
"I'm glad that I could come to school and make something and go out of it knowing my name will still be remembered."
Forever in the record books as an Eagle, but Caylan's quick to recognize everyone else before herself.
"They're pushing me to do better," said guard Caylan Jones. "Because I know I can count on them and they're counting on me, so it's just knowing you have a family that supports you."
"It's easy for her to standout individually, but then when you watch her play, and sit down and talk to her, she's really about her teammates," said NFC head coach Jodie Price. "I think that's something about a standout player. You don't always know that about then, but they're not only a standout player, they're a standout teammate."
A standout teammate that's on track to hit 2000 career points this year. She averaged over 25 per game last season, and her academic stats? Just as impressive. Caylan boasts a perfect 4.0.
"She's going to carry that on for a long time after basketball," said Price. "They've instilled academics is important. She's a super smart kid."
"We're sometimes working in the locker room on our homework and helping each other out talking about our grades and stuff," reflected Jones. "I think it shows who we are on the court because what happens in the classroom is what you do outside."
Pushing each other in the classroom - and on the court, and for Caylan, that's exactly the way she wants it.
"The people that are around you are really a big factor in everything because you wouldn't be able to strive forward if you didn't have people along the way to help you," said Jones. "I just, they're a big help and a big factor to have everyone around me."
And they'll be all around when Caylan makes history... once again.
