TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - On Friday, North Florida Christian plays for the 2A State Championship, and for the Eagles State Championships are just kind of are expected.
NFC has seven to their name, and they're chasing eight in 2018.
The Eagles left Thursday to a lot of cheers and well wishes from students, faculty, and parents, and that's what makes NFC so special.
"It's a small community and these kids usually get here in kindergarten of first grade and they go all the way through school," said head coach Steve Price. "They grow up dreaming of wearing the NFC helmet and playing in games like this, so it's just really special."
This team is calm, cool, and collected, and aren't worried about the legacy they hope to add too.
"They're just thinking about playing the game this Friday and doing the best they can," said Price. "I don't think they think a lot about the past teams, but they want to make a name for themselves."
"We've had our best week of practice we've had all year," added senior Preston Reece. "We've grown together as a team all year, waking up every morning in the summer grinding and doing what we have to do, and we're ready. We played what we have to do. We just have to go down there and do what our team's been coached to do."
Friday's game is against Champagnat Catholic, and it kicks off at 10am in Orlando at Camping World Stadium.
