TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Katrina Young will temporarily trade her Garnet and Gold of Florida State for the Red, White, and Blue of Team USA, as the Noles' rising junior is in Russia for the World University Games.

Young will compete in the 10-meter Platform Dive Monday, July 8th.

"I want to move up in the international world," Young says, "so it's another chance to show what dives I've improved on and try to compete better."

Before coming to Florida State, Young was an accomplished international diver on the junior level. She was a member of the 2006 USA Junior World Team and won a silver medal at the 2005 Junior Pan-American Games.

Even with those accolades, Young is not the most successful international athlete in her family. Her grandmother won an Olympic bronze medal in Track and Field, and Katrina is always happy to listen to her advice.

"She was like, the couple days before, you really get into competition mode, but when you first get there it really is an opportunity to travel internationally. You get to look around and see the culture's like and really take that in."
