Tallahassee, FL (WTXL)-- Florida State's three new freshman all scored in double figures and combined for 62 points and Florida State tops Nicholls 109-62 to open the season on Sunday. It's Florida State's first season opening 100-plus point game since 1993.
FSU dominated this game from start to finish. The Noles shot 65.6 percent from the field and led by as many as 48 points. Dwayne Bacon, a McDonald's All-American selection last season, led FSU with 23 points. Malik Beasley chipped in 21 points. Terance Mann added 15.
"We all know that they're very capable of being very good offensive players," FSU head coach Leonard Hamilton said. "As coaches we have to evaluate the things that we're trying to get them to encompass overall. I thought that both gave good effort in trying to do what we asked them to do," Hamilton added.
Senior Devon Bookert finished with 11 points and sophomore Xavier Rathan-Mayes facilitated the offense with 11 points and 11 assists.
