TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida State football team lost a heartbreaker on Saturday at Clemson, a loss that took them of of the running for their fourth straight ACC title, as Clemson locked up the Atlantic Division crown with the win over the Noles.
Head Coach Jimbo Fisher said that's okay, and reiterated on Monday how proud of the team he was for battling in a hostile environment, something he said will only make the very young team better.
Now the Noles return home to face NC State at Doak, and while Florida State won't be competing for a National or Conference title this year, the can still have a double digit win season, and Fisher said that's something that can't be lost.
"When you used to go 10-2, or 11-2 or 9-3 or whatever it was, or 10-3 and win your bowl game and then go to a New Year's Day Bowl or whatever Bowl, that was a great success," he said. "Everybody felt good about it. I don't want everybody to think just because you don't go to a Playoff, which is the goal, we're all disappointed in that, but that doesn't mean we're still not going to have a significant season and a great season. I just don't want the changing times to make sure we don't forget that. Not just with us, but other football teams that things are going like that."
Fisher and the Noles take the field Saturday against the Wolfpack. Kickoff is slated for 12:30.
